Activities/Attractions: Fruita, a small community 10 miles west of Grand Junction and near the Utah border, sits at the foot of the Colorado National Monument (a magnificent canyon with monolithic rock formations, abundant wildlife, and a variety of hiking and cross-country skiing trails).
Poised near the confluence of the Colorado and Gunnison Rivers, Fruita is a verdant green area rich in orchards and vineyards. Ranked as one of the top 20 cities in the U.S. for bicycling, Fruita annually hosts the Fat Tire Festival in April attracting cyclists worldwide.
Country Jam, an outdoor country music event, is held each June. The 3-day Fruita Fall Festival includes a parade, pageant, and arts & crafts show with hundreds of vendors.
Powserhorn resort with 510 skiable acres and a summit
elevation of 9,850 ft. is about 45 miles southeast of Fruita.
