Activities/Attractions: Sooke is located on the south western tip of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada in a sheltered harbor, a scenic half hour drive from BC's capital city Victoria. As a part of a temperate rainforest, the Sooke district has one of the most mild climates in Canada.

Typically warm and dry in the summer, the weather is very pleasant. This pleasant climate can be enjoyed while hiking, biking, or horseback riding some of the local trails, or kayaking or sailing in the local waters of Sooke Basin and beyond.

  • Here, you can breathe deeply of the fresh, sea-scented air
  • Stroll along the sandy beach and listen to the wash of waves and the call of gulls and eagles
  • Enjoy a seaweed tour with "the seaweed lady", Diane Bernard, of Outer Coast Seaweeds and explore the many seaweeds inhabiting our coastal waters
  • Wander through our delightful kitchen gardens, where edible flowers, herbs and vegetables flourish under the care of our expert gardeners

Sooke supports quite a wealth of interests, such as music, drama, arts and crafts, photography, gardening, and team sports, through community organizations. The Sooke Region Museum holds a major annual juried art exhibition, the Fine Arts Show. Sooke's diversity offers something for everyone.

Our restaurant is open for dinner each evening beginning at 5:30 p.m. Please telephone ahead to ensure we are open and to reserve your table. Our menu is written on a daily basis and is available by 5 p.m. Our menu focuses on seasonal, regional, organic seafood, meat and produce and is served with imagination and flair.

"My mom, dad and I loved our stay with you. These are the things I liked: the tasty croissants, the warm fireplace, had a wonderful sleep, listening to the waves, the art in the hallway, watching the ships crossing the ocean, watching the waves crash on the rocks and splash, going for a hike, picking shells on the beach and playing Scrabble. Oh I forgot one more I enjoyed watching my very first eagle. I hope we come back again. Thank you for making my spring break super fun!"

"We thoroughly enjoyed waking to peaceful surroundings, hiking through forests to beautiful beaches, and the gourmet breakfasts, picnic lunches, and romantic dinners. The chef is truly a master."

"No Christmas in my life has been more lovely, contemplative and spiritually rewarding than was this year. Whatever accolades I and others are able to offer are tiny in comparison to the gift you give all those who visit your distinguished hotel and restaurant. We will return often and with delight. Thank you for your generous hearts."

"Lest you think we only enjoyed the feasting, we also loved our room – the Sea Song Room. It was very romantic and cozy, and we enjoyed reading by the fireplace and soaking in the jetted tub."

"Our room, the Seaweed Room, was spectacular. The view was the best, bar none. It was beautifully decorated and I could go on and on about the steam shower and the tub outside on the veranda."

"I have consciously searched for seven years for a place to visit where I could relax and unwind from my work. Your hotel is the very place I have been trying to find."

"We look forward to returning. Don’t change a thing."
