Activities/Attractions: Costa Maya is unspoiled by large development and focuses on ecotourism and bio-diversity. With the jungle behind us and the sea at our doorstep, nature envelops Balamku. The coral reef, just meters from our beach, makes adventures with the sea readily available.

Chinchorro Reef, part of the second largest reef formation in the world (next to The Great Barrier Reef), is just over an hour away by boat. The scuba diving and snorkeling opportunities there are world famous. Deep sea fishing is a popular activity in the well-equipped little fishing village, Mahahual.

The Mayan ruins are nearby as is the fabulous museum in Chetumal, the closest commercial city. Of course, in this natural setting, the birds and butterflies are magnificent. This is an ideal area for observing nature.
