Activities/Attractions: Located on the lee side of the Coast Mountains, the South Chilcotins lie within a transition zone between the Coast Mountains and the Chilcotin Plateau. This favoured position produces a Rainshadow. This means sunny skies and a dry climate. The environment is "almost bug-free."

The area is renowned for its bio-diversity, with vegetation ranging from Douglas fir to alpine tundra. Plants, representing both temperate vegetation to the south and boreal vegetation to the north, occur together. Massive ancient firs give way to the trembling aspen and meadows brocaded with an abundance of wild flowers that bloom May through to September at their preferred elevations. An outstanding variety of wildlife inhabits our guide area. California Bighorn sheep, Moose, Mule deer, Mountain goat, Grizzly, Black bear and wolf are plentiful and frequently sighted.

"Chilcotin" is an Indian name meaning "People of the Blue Water". The glaciers give the lakes throughout our territory an emerald turquoise color. The water is clean and cold as it seeps out of the sandy shale mountain slopes.

"We were tourists in the best way, I guess. Close to the nature, answerable. For a catalogue in Canada it is not necessary to talk about the environment or pollution. For us of the small countries in Europe it is a big topic and we want to be reasonable guests in your wonderful country. We went to see a lot and we had deep impressions. Chilcotin country by its own and Chilcotin Holidays are a perfect combination."

"What helped was the hands-on experience. We were able to practice what we had learned up in the mountains. The lifestyle is what I want, the people are great, and the scenery is heart stopping."

"The memories of the wildflowers on the mountainsides will live forever in our minds. The lupines, glacier lilies, Indian paintbrushes and other flowers all create a Technicolor feast that helped us hike on for even better views. Once at the higher elevations, we were rewarded with views that were exhilarating. This grandeur could have been spoiled if your organization was not top notch. Our guide was superb. Thank you for making our hiking trip so memorable."

"Everything exceeded our expectations. The ranch itself; living in such luxury in the midst of wilderness. The way your guides found the right activities to suit all abilities and ages of riders. The magnificent scenery... awesome. And finally the horses, quite the most surefooted, willing, yet fun, animals I've met. We are coming to think that this was the best holiday we've ever had."

"Our stay was "Wonderful". We wanted for nothing. All of our needs were taken care of. Cozy tent, hot showers and hearty meals. The fishing was great fun. The fish jump and shake and are quite a kick to catch. They even make tasty appetizers for dinner. I can't say enough about our guide. I fully enjoyed this experience. I understand the amount of planning and work involved here and admire what a great job you've done."

"We are left with glowing memories of fields of wildflowers, burbling mountain streams, indescribable views, sanctity, riding bareback, digging potatoes, speedy baths in glacial streams and hearty food. The trip provided wonderful challenges for us all individually as well as a family. We came away from the week feeling that (with good organization) Pandora's box of outdoor experiences are opening up to us. It is a great feeling to set a challenge to ourselves, and, thanks to your help, meet it with flying colors."

"Just a note to thank you all for the wonderful "once in a lifetime" experience! The scenery was spectacular, even though the sheer scale of it could never be captured on camera. I have had a lot of friends and colleagues who are very interested in doing a trip with Chilcotin Holidays. So watch out, you may be inundated with a bunch of mad Scots next year!"

"We were honored to see five Grizzlies during our stay. A truly amazing experience. Thanks to our expert guide, the grizzly had no idea that we were in front of it, and we were able to take some brilliant photographs and study him for quite some time. We were also lucky to see a pair of juvenile Grizzlies - twice! Fascinating to watch. Very photogenic."
