Activities/Attractions: The closest community to Bear Essentials Lodging is Anchor Point, population of approximately 1200. In the high summer months, June-August, being near the coast, temperatures average 60 degrees. On the summer solstice, we have approximately nineteen hours of daylight and during the winter solstice, days are shorter. There are a lot of activities available year round:

• Fishing season runs May through September
  
• Catch a wide variety of fin including halibut, salmon, and trout
  
• We can assist having your catch packed and shipped
  
• Also enjoy hiking, kayaking, clamming, beach walking, and flying kites
  
• About an hour drive north runs the famous Kenai River where the worlds largest king salmon are caught
  
• Homer, Alaska - Halibut Capitol of the world, is just twenty-five minutes to the south. Halibut season starts late April to early May and runs through August
  
• If it's clam digging you like, there are great opportunities on the nearby beaches
  

In the winter, we have ice fishing, snow machining, snow shoeing, and cross country skiing. If you want groomed cross-country trails, those are just 25 minutes away in Homer. We have a great view of the Alaska Range. Just outside our front door, enjoy wildlife viewing - Eagles and Moose abound. Fall is the best time to observe the Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights. Because the aurora is created at the poles of the earth, aurora displays occur simultaneously, in a mirror image at each pole.

General Information: Welcome to Bear Essentials Lodging ... a rustic lodge located in Anchor Point, Alaska in a remote location surrounded by the beauty of Alaskan views, scenery and wildlife. Our Alaskan Lodging is  located minutes away from fishing,  hunting, clamming,  sightseeing, hiking, wildlife photography and many other Alaskan adventures and activities that Alaska is famous for.

We offer clean comfortable rooms at very reasonable rates. Our rates vary by season, duration of stay and the number of guests. Stay one night, several nights, or longer. Extended stay discounts apply. Bear Essentials Lodging is open year round. Tent camping spaces are available - call for special rates tent camping.

The SnowShoe Room has a queen bed and a bunk bed comprised of a queen w/double bed on top. The room includes a private  sunroom and can accommodate up to 6.
The Bear Den has a queen bed and a bunk bed and can accommodate up to 4.
