Activities/Attractions: La Selva Beach is a small coastal community located along the central coast near the Manresa Uplands State Beach and the city of Santa Cruz. It is also just off the scenic Coast Highway or Highway 1.
Manresa Uplands State Beach features a gorgeous stretch of sand and sea with swimming, surf fishing, clamming and other beach activities. The area is also famous for its bird watching and wildlife viewing, including tours of the Elkhorn Slough Bird Sanctuary, and whale watching boat trips nearby.
This whole stretch of coastline from Santa Cruz to Monterey is a treat for the senses. First of all, the town of Santa Cruz offers their famous Boardwalk and Amusement Park, swimming and sunning on Santa Cruz Beach and surfing at Pleasure Point.
Continuing south takes you to the picturesque seaside villages of Capitola and Aptos, and then on to the famous Monterey Peninsula. Here you can visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium, drive the world famous 17-Mile Drive, spend a day shopping and sightseeing in quaint Carmel or continue south down the dramatic Big Sur Coastline.
All along the way are miles of pristine beaches, antique shops, five star restaurants, oceanfront seafood restaurants and pro golf courses. Recreational activities in the area include kayaking, windsurfing, bicycling, hiking, and exploring tide pools and searching for sea shells. Le Selva Beach is quiet and private and makes a great home base from which to experience the whole region.

General Information: Welcome to The Grove Country Retreat Cottages ... on The Monterey Bay in Santa Cruz, California, 20 min. from downtown Santa Cruz and 30 min. from Monterey ... an artist's minifarm with two independent cottages for travelers.
Walk out your front door a few steps away you will find the Sundance hot tub (with strong massage jets) on its own ocean-view deck, plus a new deck with "Endless Pool" and Swedish dry sauna. The "Endless Pool," contains a generated current against which you swim (endlessly) without having to turn or hit the wall, easily adjusted to your own swim speed. Proper depth also for doing water aerobics or water yoga. A fabulous masseuse is available by appointment.
- The Chalet is modern,
angular, light, filled with original art, and has beautiful views out
of every window. It has an upstairs loft also with view of the ocean,
a double futon, books, tapes and videos, and CD player. Downstairs, a
queen-size bed, TV on cable (with VCR) and romantic in-bed view of
glass front fire view woodstove situated on artful marble and tile
pedestal. A step up takes you into a fully-equipped kitchen, including
gas stove, microwave, small refrigerator, coffee maker and other
extras. Watch the sunset from your own front porch; drink your coffee
on the little back porch in the morning sun
- The Cottage has an ambiance
of comfort and coziness, with its mini-barn shape and wood interior,
fire view woodstove, and ocean/greenery views. A kitchen complete with
gas stove, microwave, small refrigerator, and all necessary eating and
cooking utensils is situated at one end of the room. A breakfast bar
and table for two complete the kitchen area. The Cottage also has a TV
with VCR, CD player, and a little fish tank for your enjoyment, plus
lots of books and games
