The Historic downtown area is home to a vibrant collection of more than 120 shops and 30 restaurants located in historic buildings on and around old Main Street Charlottesville. Enjoy dining at a number of fine restaurants, shop the unique boutiques, screen a new movie, take in a play or show, take the family ice skating at the indoor arena, or simply relax and enjoy the flowers with a beverage from one of the speciality wine, coffee or tea shops. The Downtown Mall is also home to the new Charlottesville Pavilion, the Paramount Theater, and the Live Arts Community Theater. On our property, you frequently see whitetail deer and wild turkeys at dawn and dusk right from where you sit in front of the fire. "We stayed at the Annex last week and cannot express what refreshment your guesthouse was for us. Two weeks prior we visited two of Frank Lloyd Wright's houses near Ohiopyle, PA. When planning last week's trip to Monticello, I ran across your website and was struck by the apparent similarities between pictures of the Annex and FLW's structures. I was determined to at least stay one night in the Annex, and the experience was beyond my wildest expectations. The connection this house makes with its surroundings, and by extension, the connection one feels with the environment is at once exhilarating and calming. The beauty of the building and locale, along with the obvious hospitality the Annex offered (the teas and spices left by previous guests were a delight) and its lovely and sensitive artwork, made us feel truly honored to have spent time there." |

personally for our short visit last week. The Lodge was perfect - exactly what
we needed, except that a few more days would have made it perfect. There are
only three places we've visited in the world so far that we would return to, and
your property is one of them (the others are in Hawaii and a Pacific Ocean lodge
in British Columbia). A wonderful refuge, and we loved both dogs, though never
did get to know their names! Thank you for the wonderful respite!" |
