This charming village is home to a range of quality art galleries that exhibit, and sometimes produce, works of great interest to all art lovers. Shoppers also love the many craft shops, fashion boutiques and gift shops that exhibit a staggering range of affordable, locally made items.

Close to Montville is the Kondalilla National Park. Kondalilla is aboriginal for 'rushing waters' and is home to scenic walks and spectacular waterfalls. It is ideal for a picnic, a swim, or just to escape into the cool rainforest.

"This is our second visit to "Secrets". This place has to be the ultimate getaway for a quiet weekend with someone special. The cabins are as close to perfect as one could require with themed carvings (all by local carvers), leadlight windows and luxurious decor for each. The attention to detail is truly astounding. Aldy and George, the proprietors, have managed to site each cabin so that you are unaware of anyone else on the property, ensuring that each cabin has total privacy whilst still giving wonderful views of the lake. The complimentary champagne breakfast basket has more than enough food for 2 breakfasts which you can make at your leisure with delicious hot croissants or muffins delivered in a velvet bag (themed for each cabin) each morning. Also available are barbecue baskets which can be cooked on your verandah barbecue when you're ready to do so. Montville is a quiet country village so don't go expecting an exciting nightlife. However, the coastal strip at Mooloolaba will provide that if really necessary. This is a place to take time out, "smell the roses" so to speak and enjoy a quiet life."

"On a recent trip to Australia that was mostly spent on the beaches and islands we wanted something inland that was going to be truly Australian and a little different we booked a night at Secrets on the Lake (formerly Treetops Cabins on the Lake). When we arrived at Secrets on the Lake we were greeted by a very friendly host who got us our champagne breakfast baskets and showed us to our cabin. There were about 12 cabins of different sizes all connected by a high wooden walkway. As you walk over at night time you can hear nightlife animals scattering about in the underbrush. All the cabins have a theme and have hand carved unusual wooden features throughout. The cabin we had (2 couples) was the Wait A While cabin that had a an elevated loft style second bedroom looking out over the lounge area and rainforest. Love the front door! There was also a spacious spa bath with gorgeous shutters that opened straight out onto the rainforest. The balcony has a breathtaking view over the lake and at night the resident a possum came onto our balcony and took fruit straight out of our hands. In the morning we were greeted by a very friendly baby magpie that we also hand fed. Although we didn't, you could take the canoes out on the lake. The reception also has books, CDs and a billiards table. A great place to stay with easy access to all the beaches of the Sunshine Coast and famous Eumundi markets."
