Activities/Attractions: Moosehead is a region of superlatives ... here you'll find the most plentiful moose and deer in Maine; more parkland than anywhere else in the state, including 200,000-acre Baxter State Park; Moosehead Lake, the largest in the north-east; and mile-high Mt. Katahdin, the tallest peak in Maine. There's outstanding whitewater rafting on the west branch of the Penobscot, one of Maine's prime rafting areas. Enjoy all types of outdoor recreation, from canoeing and camping to snowmobiling and skiing. Truly an outdoorsman's paradise, Katahdin/Moosehead is also home to some of the best hunting and fishing in the east.
Site seeing means different things to different people. Some people come to Maine to visit the more than 60 lighthouses that stand guard along her coastline. Others prefer the scenic peacefulness of the covered bridge that dot the countryside. Any serious leaf peeper will tell you that Maine's fall foliage season is a sight to behold indeed. Click on one of the links below to learn more about each of these popular Maine site seeing activities. At the south tip of Moosehead lake is town called Greenville Junction. This town is the start or base for anyone wanting to explore the "North Woods". It's surrounded by Lakes, forested mountains and tumbling rivers.
In the Spring: Moosehead Lake
is the largest fresh water lake in the Northeast - 40 miles long and 20
miles wide. The deep clear water is the natural home of salmon, trout and
togue. The lake opens for fishing at ice-out (usually early May). Moose
are plentiful and easily seen along the roads this time of year. Come
visit for the annual Moose Mainea celebration.
We also offer a lovely waterfront home with large deck overlooking the lake ... available for weekly rental from Saturday to Saturday in Harford's Point - four miles from Greenville.

"Decided on the spur of the moment to hit Moosehead Lake and ended up here following a scan thru the AAA Tour Book. What a find. It's a clean, quiet, two-story motel about five minutes from Greenville's main drag and right on the edge of the lake. We woke up the first day of our stay, strolled over to one of the motel's 2 canoes, strapped on our jackets and we were off. You can't beat that for lakeside lodging. Greenville Jct. itself was also a great find. A pleasant town with just enough tourism to keep things ticking over nicely (restaurants, stores etc) but also with enough local amenities to keep it a real town (laundromat, grocery store). We'll be back."
