There are many ways to get out and see the area surrounding St. Helena, from bicycling the extensive trails to soaring through the skies in a hot air balloon. Other recreational activities such as golf and hiking are also available in St. Helena, though of course wine tastings and vineyard tours are the most popular activities here.

"We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay at the Ink House. Incredible value and the house and grounds are great - 4 acres of vineyards, olives, massive lawns, and gardens right in the prime Rutherford area at the southern edge of St. Helena. The rooms were well-appointed with queen size beds, antiques, and private bathrooms but weren't that large. The top of the house has a wonderful glass observatory that puts you about 40 feet above the valley and the bottom of the house has an old stone basement that is now a game room hosting a poker table and pool table. There's also a regulation horseshoe pit out by the barn and croquet and bocce equipment to use on the grand back lawn. A wonderful two days, wish we had had more time!"

"During our recent trip to Napa our family surprised us with a night at the Ink House for our anniversary! The Ink House is a wonderful property with beautiful grounds and a lovely wrap around porch. The staff could not have been more friendly and gracious. Breakfast was delicious and again served by a very wonderful staff. Our stay was a treat and the staff made it a very memorable part of our Napa vacation!"

"We had a wonderful stay at the Ink House and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a unique experience. We were given the last available room (which turned out to be the best one!) at a great price, and the proprietor graciously offered to keep the wine and cheese hors d'oeuvres out for us to enjoy when we arrived. He also recommended some top restaurant choices where we could have dinner, and he eagerly volunteered to make the reservations for us. Our room and bathroom were spotless. We even had a little welcome basket of bottled water and snacks in our room. You will not be disappointed if you stay here!"

"My husband and I just returned from our first-anniversary-getaway-weekend at The Ink House. I truly cannot say one negative thing about this adorable Bed and Breakfast. The staff/owner were kind and courteous, greeting us with a warm smile, a glass of sherry or port and chocolates. The house is wonderfully decorated with antiques that are warm and inviting and the entire house has a definite cozy feel. This B&B has so many little hidden treasures - it would take pages to write them all. We truly had a great time - in fact this was a surprise for me from my husband. He certainly did good because I was surprised by the charm, history, elegance, and comfort we experienced at The Ink House."

"The Inn is very beautiful, and very clean. The surrounding grounds and vineyard are a sight to see and enjoy. The observation tower was a real treat."

"All I can say is that the Ink House was everything and more. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with a friendly face and shown around the spacious property. Once we settled into our comfortable room, it was back to the drawing board, as neither one of us had ever been to Napa. The innkeeper was glad to help, offering many suggestions and tips on wineries and restaurants, all of which we followed. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. All in all, we really enjoyed our first trip to Napa, and I give all the credit to the Ink House and it's staff and we will definitely be BACK!"

"For our wedding in July, my family flew in from all over the country and stayed on the Ink House grounds, specifically at the Carriage House, which was like an attached mini-cottage surrounded by vineyards. The Ink House staff was so helpful, but hands-off enough to make our weeding week feel like a private stress-free getaway. The Carriage House was a perfect space to bring everyone together: the living room was cozy, the bedrooms were luxurious and the Jacuzzi tub was especially nice for my mom! Everything was clean and cushy, especially the beds. The Ink House is magic place to get married. Everyone left feeling rather spoiled and overwhelmed by the beauty of the venue."

"My mother and I decided on this wonderfully restored Victorian B&B based on a recommendation from the concierge at V. Sattui winery. We could not have been happier. Each of the two rooms we had were lovely. The antique style decor is distinctive and adds a nice touch. I'd recommend this based on service alone."

"Staying at the Ink House was the best decision we made in our travels in quite some time. I couldn't believe how accessible it is to the wineries all over the area. And the view...Wow !! You can go up on the observation deck (with a glass of wine of course) and see the whole region while the sun is setting. It was breathtaking. I don't know of any other B&B that can match that. The people there are so accommodating."

"I was enchanted with the Ink House from the moment I stepped through the door. Every inch of the expansive house is beautiful, furnished with antiques and just overflowing with charm. Breakfast was delicious both mornings we were there and we enjoyed that the Ink House is within a pleasant walk from a number of wineries and eateries. It was a magic weekend and we plan to return soon."

"The house is an blend of old charm and modern elegance. Rooms were large, clean, and bright. The staff were very helpful (they recommended some fantastic wineries and restaurants) and cooked delicious snacks. The house also has a large back yard that faces vineyards, allowing for romantic evening walks. Breakfast is served in a old-fashioned dining room with all guests sitting at the same table."
