Surrounded by stunning volcanoes, bush clad mountains and a spectacular landscape lies the largest freshwater lake in New Zealand and the Southern Hemisphere, Lake Taupo. The water is stunningly blue, the air fresh and unpolluted, the towns are bustling with cafes and exclusive shopping - scenic delights greet visitors at every turn. "We stayed just three short nights with Susan and Tony Dalby and could have stayed a lifetime. We were made very welcome the moment we arrived (late) and this hospitality was evident throughout our stay ... from the beautifully cooked breakfasts ... plenty of choice, fresh fruit, cereals, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon ... all well presented. All rooms are tastefully decorated with everything anyone could need ... check out the "stick teas". The overall standards were exceptional, spotlessly clean. Susan has a great eye for detail and colour matching. Go there as soon as you can. More of a home than a homestay."

General Information: Welcome to Wharewaka Lodge ... offering luxury accommodation, situated directly on the eastern edge of Lake Taupo, New Zealand. Your hosts, Susan and Tony Dalby are retired cropping, sheep and cattle farmers, and built their lodge in 2003, having moved there to enjoy people and the variety of interesting activities and amenities nearby. Your comfort is assured in a friendly, warm atmosphere, with your hosts.

Our lakeside locality provides a serene and pleasant environment, with a walking and cycling track at the bottom of our garden, where you hear native bird call. We provide kayaks for your use in our sheltered bay. There is a comfy living room where guests can relax beside an open wood fire with the complimentary wines and hors d'oeuvres each evening, and a terrace directly on to the lakeside, or a sheltered private courtyard. Lodge features include:

• 1 super-king, 1 super-king/twin and 1 queen bedroom
