Activities/Attractions: Chéticamp and Saint-Joseph-du-Moine are Acadian communities located on the west coast of Cape Breton Island in the province of Nova Scotia, Canada. At a distance of approximately 140km north of the Strait of Canso, these communities lie in the shadow of the Cape Breton Highlands (part of the Appalachian Mountain Range), and hug the coast of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. The population of approximately 4,000 is made up mostly of people of Acadian descent. This region, located on the Cabot Trail, has a natural beauty that will leave you in awe. In addition, you will find friendly people, delicious food, toe-tapping music as well as crafts unique to this corner of the world.
We are ideally located for the day tripper, being 88 Km or 1 hour drive from Baddeck, or a leisurely 2 hour excursion or 115 Km from Ingonish and the Highland Links. As you enter Cape Breton at Port Hastings it is a mere 150 Km or 2:15 hour drive along the Ceilidh and Cabot Trails to our location. Marvel at the view of the Cabot Trail and enjoy the flight of the bald eagles and other nesting birds along the coast of the St. Lawrence, Bras d'Or or Lake Ainslie.
"We have stayed here twice and plan to return again. Beautiful spot, quiet surroundings and close to the park. Being able to borrow movies is a very nice touch as is the homemade muffins in the morning as we checked out. Thank you."
"If you are heading to Cheticamp, the best place to stay in is the Ocean View Motel. Great location by the sea, clean, new-looking rooms, DVD and VCR players in the room and a nice collection of new and old movies to borrow, but the most important thing, the service and hospitality of the owner are above and beyond anything you may expect. I strongly recommend this motel."
"Your unit was one of the most comfortable, good looking rooms we've visited in Canada and US and economically priced. We appreciated the coffee and muffins too."
"Really enjoyed our stay here-you provided all that is necessary for a perfect vacation. It is a lovely location and is so relaxing. Hope to return again one day."
"Great place to stay. Great accommodations with great Acadian hospitality, very clean, great location by the water."
"Ocean View thoroughly deserves it's recommendation in the 'Rough Guide to Canada' guidebook. The rooms are spacious, well equipped and immaculately presented. Host could not have been more helpful, free DVD's, internet access are very welcome extras. Would recommend Ocean View to anyone."

"Little did we know how great the place would turn out to be. It made our weekend that much more enjoyable. Friendly people, clean chalet, reasonably priced, close to the trails we wanted to hike the next day. Couldn't have been a better end to the day including the prefect sunset. We will definitely be back."
"It was a great place to stay after our first day of riding ... We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, and the cottage was terrific - spotlessly clean, roomy, comfortable, and with a beautiful view of the Gulf of St Lawrence (the sunset was absolutely beautiful!) We definitely enjoyed the comforts of the king size bed and jacuzzi tub! We would definitely stay here again!"
