Host: Pauline Laboyrie Guestrooms: 7 (4 in the Farmstay and 3 in the Main Residence). Address: 357 State Highway 5, Tirau, New Zealand Click here for location. Telephone: 07-8831333, Fax: 07-8831339 Activities/Attractions: Tirau is a small attractive township in a rural setting, with the Kaimai ranges as a backdrop. It has a population of approx 800 people and is situated within the South Waikato District, as are the towns of Putaruru and Tokoroa. Other towns in close proximity are Matamata and Cambridge. Less than an hours drive from Tirau are the cities of Hamilton, Rotorua, Tauranga, and the popular beach resort of Mt Maunganui. For a small town Tirau has a large variety of local shops which attract tourists and motorists. Just a short drive away from the centre of Tirau is the popular Okoroire Hot Springs Hotel and Golf Course, and an Early New Zealand Museum located on the main Rotorua Rd. Two renowned trout fishing rivers (the Waihou and Waimakariri) are on the farm. The New Zealand trout fishing team is selected on this farm and numerous fishing competitions are held here. The fish were counted on this farm professionally by men in wet suits with counting equipment etc. and 1000 fish were counted in one kilometre. The fishing is superb on this farm. An experienced guide is available if required. "Deciding to travel to Auckland from Wellington after a conference was one of the wisest decisions we have made in business as we are going from this particular juncture totally invigorated, motivated and inspired, mainly due to the time spent here. We caught no fish! Who cares - this cottage has been put together with such care and devotion to service and hospitality that all who stay here will leave with a different outlook on life. Thank you Peter & Pauline." "Thank you for a most enjoyable "farm" experience, a privilege to be your first guests. We will be back, although the trout are probably still safe! H & C have loved feeding the calves and especially squirting out the milking shed." "We love this cottage! Great thrill to catch some trout!! Loved the calves - so cute. Excellent stay. Thank you. We'll be back again." "The cottage is so cosy - we felt right at home! The boys loved mucking up to the barn and watching Peter milk, fishing for trout in your beautiful river and riding on the 2 and 4 wheel bikes. We enjoyed Tirau and Cambridge and the proximity to Rotorua, Taupo, Waitomo etc. is perfect. Thank you so much." "Fantastic farmhouse. Loved the river and the trout." |
