Activities/Attractions: Guadeloupe still retains that enchanting mixture of French and Creole influence, apparent even down to the mix of flavors and ingredients in its cuisine. This Caribbean paradise comprises Basse-Terre, Grande-Terre and five smaller islands, all of which vary quite substantially in scenery.

Those considering Guadeloupe to merely possess a few pretty beaches may be surprised to learn that it also boats a wildlife-infested rainforest and there are also many lush mountainous areas with stunning and unspoiled tropical scenery. The beautiful beaches vary too, from the white palm-fringed to the volcanic-created black sand.

As might be deemed more typical of the Caribbean, Guadeloupe boasts plenty of restaurants, bars and discos, with displays of local dancing and music. The famous dance of the island is called the Biguine, where colorful and ornate Creole costumes are still worn.

Two small islands and a couple of rocky desert islands make up the archipelago of the Saints, ten kilometres south of Guadeloupe. Terre-de-Haut and Terre-de-Bas are the two main territories, Terre-de-Haut being of a slightly longish shape (6 km long and only 2 km wide), with an uneven coastline. Its highest point, Camel Hill (Morne du Chameau) is a beautiful lookout point of 309m, from where you can marvel at the lovely view of the other islands.

"We were staying elsewhere on the island but came upon this beautiful little hotel while walking. We ate at the restaurant and food and service were excellent as was the location right on the port with interesting vistas. Only ten rooms with I think two facing the port. Those rooms book fast but that would be my first choice. We could not actually look at a room because they were full but my guess is this hotel will be a winner and is already popular with Europeans. The location is quiet yet close to all restaurants and things to do. I would highly recommend it and if we return to Les Saints would want to stay here."
