Activities/Attractions: Most people speed through the Veneto on their way to Venice, yet its small cities are fascinating treasure troves of art and beacons of fine living, and only a few miles to the north the Alps begin, their foothills dotted with charming towns and lined with picturesque world-class vineyards. Because the average traveler aims only to see the city on the lagoon, the rest of the region is blessedly devoid of tourist crowds.

The heart of Veneto is a straight line due west from Venice taking in Padova and Verona before arriving at Lake Garda and Bardolino. The rich merchants of Venice knew this and even constructed the canal along the River Brenta to where their palatial villas and mansions were built.

The Brenta Riviera is set on the banks of the river that flows from Padua to the Venice Lagoon. Populated as early as the 5th Century A.D., its importance grew during the 15th century, when Venice extended its dominion to all of the hinterland. Nowadays, the Brenta Riviera boasts antique Villas, unique nature walks, relaxing river cruises and excellent seafood cuisine inspired by Venetian tradition.

Only a few kilometres from us, you can visit the famous Venetian Villas on the Brenta Riverside, easily reachable by bike or you may go on one of the many organized river- boat tours. Verona, Venice, the spectacular Po Delta, the Dolomite Mountains , the vast beaches of the Adriatic Riviera, the Thermal Baths and the Prosecco wine Road are only an hour away.

General Information: Welcome to The Guesthouse Alcova del Doge ... situated in Mira-Venice, Italy in the heart of the Brenta Riviera countryside, the antique holiday location for the Venetian nobles. Located just 15 km. from Venice and 20 km. from Padua, this restructured 1850 palace offers its guests six bedrooms, all unique for their original and suggestive personality.

As you enter, you'll be welcomed by a cosy hall, surrounded by enchanting greenery and 1600's walls. Michela and Sabrina, the owners of the house are happy to welcome and provide hospitality to you and your loved ones, your friends, your family, your pets, and naturally your car or bicycle that will find a safe shelter for the night.
