Activities/Attractions: With 5,500 square miles, Corsica is the third largest island in the western Mediterranean, and about a third of the surface area of Sardinia, its Italian neighbour to the south. Its coastline extends to over 600 miles and it rises to nearly 9,000 feet - the highest island in the Mediterranean.

French is the official language, and is spoken by everybody but you will hear Corsican spoken everywhere, in the villages in particular. Despite its unique beauty, its Mediterranean climate, its cool green mountains, Corsica has avoided the ugly mass tourism which has blighted so many Mediterranean islands.

Corsica is also commonly called the "Island of beauty" and is like a mountain in the middle of the sea. Effectively, with its 1500 km of paths and hikes and the famous GR20, it will appeal to all sportsmen on foot, bike or horse.

Its coasts offer varied landscapes with little intimate coves, thin sand beaches and granite cliffs diving into the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean. Sea activities will be offered to you nearby.

Sagone, Corsica's largest gulf stretches up to the Puti di Cargèse, and thrives as a centre for diving and watersports. An area of contrasts, in the space of a few minutes you can go from its sunny beaches into the coolness of the forests of the Regional Nature Park, where Vico, a region of shepherds, offers many excursions to lake Creno and the Liamone gorges.
