Activities/Attractions: Situated just minutes from the Galway City Centre, Salthill is a traditional seaside resort offering facilities to please young and old. Salthill's famous prom is the perfect place to watch the sun go down on Galway Bay. Once a small seaside resort 3 km west of Galway, Salthill is now an important suburb of this expanding city. Salthill seems to have grown as a result and, today, it is one of the premier seaside resorts in Ireland.
While it may have lost some of its simple, rural charms, it has gained a wealth of amenities in the process. The giant Leisureland complex, with its host of children's entertainments, including an indoor heated swimming pool, proves very popular, especially when the weather acts the spoilsport, as it will do at times here in the west. The golden half-mile of casinos, pubs and restaurants also play their part by day and discos and musical pubs rule the roost at night.
Galway is a medieval city that is rich in culture. It is also a university city which is partly responsible for its vibrancy and love for the arts. It has much to offer visitors, both young and old.
County Galway is situated in the West of Ireland and is one of Ireland's largest counties. It is one of Ireland's most diverse counties containing the largest Gaeltacht (Irish speaking area) in the country, the largest island community, a vibrant city and some of Ireland's most dramatic mountains.
"We arrived at Achill Lodge on the day of the European Cup Final and were greeted by Marie and Michael Dempsey who instantly made us feel very welcome. We were onto a winner in everyway, our room was very comfortable and for breakfast there was something to suit everyone. You would be hard pushed not to be impressed. Most importantly our hosts were genuinely kind and welcoming people. Nothing was too much trouble. We hope to return again in the not too distant future."
"Its very accessible and we found the lovely view worth it. The rooms are very clean and the breakfast delightful. The owners went out of their way to accommodate with our travel and dinner plans. We felt very much at home."
"Superior owners make this an excellent place to stay. It's out by the very scenic bay. Great breakfast!"
"Very clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend. Full Irish breakfast."

"We had a fantastic stay for 3 nights at the Achill Lodge - our family of 5. From our second story room, you looked over the road to a spectacular view of Galway Bay. Our wonderful hosts, Mike and Marie Dempsey, were very personable, and when asked went out of their way to tell us about local restaurants, churches, getting to the Burren and Cliffs of Moher, and ferry to the Aran Islands, and seemed genuinely interested in what we went to see, and whether we enjoyed it. I recommend this B&B very highly, and would gladly stay there again."
"The bed and breakfast is decorated lovely, and the breakfast was wonderful. The room was spacious and clean. Last but not least, the hosts were extremely friendly and polite! Being so far from home (the states!), this gave me a home away from home feeling."
