Activities/Attractions: We are located on Howe Point along the north-eastern coastline of the island in a private, remote area, entirely removed from noise and traffic, where seals can often be seen sunning themselves on the sand bars and bald eagles soar or dive for fish right in front of you!

Yet, we are only ten minutes from the harbour town of Souris (hospital, post office, banking, groceries, liquor store, shopping) and twenty minutes from Montague, the other main commercial centre for Eastern P.E.I. Fine dining can be enjoyed within five minutes of our location. The dunes of Greenwich National Park are a mere 15 minutes away and championship golf courses lay within a 30 minutes drive!

• Plan to walk and explore the deserted beaches, clam flats and vast sandbars
  
• At low tide, take the canoe over the deep water channel in the middle of the bay to the even greater expanse of sand bars across the way
  
• Splash with your little ones into wonderful pools of water left behind by the tide over the sand, heated by the sun
  
• Feel the undulating ridges of sand under your feet and run far over the shallow water and into the surf
  
• Dive from the sandy point into the deep water of the channel and try swimming against the current or let it wash you over to the flats
  
• Then, on a quiet evening, glide peacefully  with either canoe or kayak over the still waters of the bay

"It may be too soon to call and, since this is my first visit to PEI since I was in diaper, I am probably not qualified to judge, but I think that Confederation Bridge has not changed the "unique" character of the Island. In only a week's worth of lazy sightseeing, we kept on coming across odd snippets of Island life. My favourite example was the town of Five Houses. There are twenty-two houses in the town of five Houses! It was great to start so many of our journeys by going through this utter anti-calibrating town. Yet, the other way, in Basin Head, it was enjoyable watching the kids hurl themselves off the bridge into the channel below. The lifeguards appeared to enjoy it, too; so much so that the [NO JUMPING OR DIVING FROM THE BRIDGE] signs were joyfully ignored by all in attendance. A lawyer would need a divining rod to figure out that one!  Unfortunately, I will be back at work in Toronto in a few days. With any luck, there will still be a light dusting of Island red on my shoes. Great trip and cottage!"

General Information: Welcome to Howe Bay Beach Houses in Souris - eastern Prince Edward Island ... and come and relax in one of our three oceanfront vacation properties. Every one of our rental accommodations is located on its own one acre oceanfront lot with independent access and privacy.

We fell in love with Howe Bay the moment we saw it and that was almost 20 years ago. All these many years later, we still marvel at the magnificent scenery of Howe Bay,  forever changing and reappearing. We are pleased to share this amazing place with you!

• Howe Bay Cottage will accommodate eight people (or nine with extra sleeping cot). There are two more bedrooms downstairs plus two bathrooms featuring large soaking tub upstairs and shower unit on the main floor. The Vermont Castings propane fireplace livens up the living area.  Satellite TV, DVD player and CD/stereo system are available
  
• Howe Bay Beach House is closest to the point on the Howe Bay waterfront and sits at the head of a natural little sandy cove. With five bedrooms (three queen size beds + two doubles) and four bathrooms (two of these en-suite), it can accommodate up to 11 people. The property features high wooden ceilings and open easy living areas, large tiled sun deck, comfortable screened-in porch and covered veranda
  
• Howe Bay Summer Home is our newest beach house at Howe Bay and offers all the comforts of home in an incredible oceanfront setting! With five bedrooms (three queen size beds and two doubles + single pull out lazy boy couch) and four bathrooms (two of these en suite), the house will easily accommodate up to 11 people. The large tiled sun deck with comfortable cedar lounge chairs, patio table and barbecue should be a favourite outdoor sitting area for most of our guests

"This little piece of heaven was idyllic! We arrived tired, worn out and run down. We are leaving energized, refreshed and renewed. Unlike most of the other visitors, we were much less adventurous. I think the farthest we went was either Montague in one direction and Basin Head in the other. Truth be told, we really felt everything we needed was right here, in our own backyard. Best beach - right outside the door at low tide. OK, so Basin Head is spectacular & worth a visit just to get the taste of PEI, but at low tide, whether you take the canoe across the little channel, or you turn left at the bottom of the steps and walk around the point, you have at your disposal miles of sandy sand bars, warm water and NO OTHER PERSON  for miles. Heaven! If you have small dogs or small children, the sand bars, separated by ankle + knee high stretches of water, are fantastic for them.  They will splash around for hours and you won't worry. Best screened-in porch - right here in this house.  We lived there - ate, took cocktails, slept and read. All in all, one of our best holidays.  We hope to come back."

"Red dirt road takes us to a cottage with a view that is too beautiful to try to describe. The weather this past week was perfect. Each day we wake to blue sky and clean crisp air.  Diamonds sparkled on the water. The tides caused our view to change each time we turned our head. A canoe trip across the bay, the red cliffs in the distance, seals watch our every move, we choose the best shells to take home as a memory. We rest and doze off as we sit on the porch. My brother carves birds out of a stick of driftwood. Biff runs across the yard. We try to read our books, but the view takes our eyes off the page. We loved it here."

"SENSATIONAL! Magnificent view, extremely breathtaking. Our days were full of sun all week. Sit quiet & watch the seals come in - 8:00 pm or so. Steve's seafood claimed a small fortune from us from all the visits we made to him: lobsters - 10 or so fresh, millions oysters & clams. Steve's is the best! Thanks Jovette for the lobster pots! Ceilidh in Rollo Bay is a must. The cultural experience is all together wonderful. Exactly as I dreamt it would be. The kids even got up to dance! Howe Point is a place that is definitely a well kept secret. It is wonderful to see this area has not been spoiled by commercialized tourism. We do intend to return. Thank you for sharing this piece of beauty with us!"
