Activities/Attractions: Runaway Bay is 16 km (10 miles) west of Ocho Rios and has become a destination in its own right, with white-sand beaches that are much less crowded than those in Ocho Rios. Runaway Bay, so called because the last Spaniards allegedly left Jamaica from here after their final defeat by the British is now a peaceful beach front village.

Runaway Bay fishing and scuba diving are legendary. The waters around Runaway Bay Jamaica are packed with tropical fish, coral reefs, and other interesting features. Because the reefs are close to shore, snorkeling here is as good as anywhere in Jamaica.

It's also removed from the cruise ship herds and pushy vendors. Bob Marley's childhood home and mausoleum is in nearby Nine Mile. Jamaican history is on view at Seville Great House and at Columbus Park Museum. To explore, rent a reliable vehicle and remember to drive on the left. Nearby the Villa you'll find:

• Runaway Bay 18 Hole Golf course (3 minutes) - Special rates are available for our guests
  
• The Runaway Caves are a great place for tourists to visit
  
• The Green Grotto is a great underground vaulted chamber filled with eerie water
  
• If you’d like to ride in a glass-bottomed boat then the best place to do this is in Runaway Bay
  
• Water sports are everywhere so make sure you don’t leave without trying something you’ve never tried before
  
• If you love horse riding or have never tried it before then go to Chukka Cove, a good riding school and stables
  
• If you are holidaying in February in Runaway Bay don’t miss the annual Bob Marley Birthday Bash, a reggae concert in celebration of the singer
