681-8229, Activities/Attractions: Quebec City is one of the most beautiful and the most charming city on the North American continent - nowhere else is the past so well preserved in an ensemble of 17th to 19th century buildings, wrapped tight in the fortifications of the only walled city north of Mexico. Founded in 1608 by Samuel de Champlain, this fortified city has a rich history, architecture and culture, which can be discovered and enjoyed on foot. A popular destination for visitors, with its horse-drawn calèches rattling down narrow streets between grey stone buildings, Old Quebec also won recognition from UNESCO, which declared it a World Heritage Site in 1985. No trip to French-speaking Canada is complete without a visit to romantic Québec City. There's a definite European sensibility here and you'll feel farther from home than you really are, walking down cobblestone streets and stopping in small shops selling everything from pastries and cheese to antiques and art. "Arrived at the B&B much earlier than expected, but were greeted with a warm welcome and tons of information about Quebec City. Elizabeth provided us with maps and bus timetables - just about everything we needed. She gave us an idea of places to go, directions on how to get there. The house is lovely and very welcoming. If you like B&B's I would highly recommend this!" "This B&B was a great find, very comfortable and intimate. It is located on a regular bus line into the city, so driving and parking in Quebec City is not a concern. Our hostess was extremely helpful with directions and ideas for things to see and do. Each night we could plan our activities for the next day with her help if desired. The food was incredible! Our breakfasts were actually brunches and portions were always generous. She is amazingly creative with food preparation. All in all, this is a good value B&B. We felt that half the enjoyment of our 5-day stay in Quebec City was our stay at this B&B!" "Thank you very much for your hospitality. I had never imagined that a B&b to be this great! I liked the room we stayed and especially the bed was really comfortable." |
