Activities/Attractions: County Limerick is located in Southwest Ireland ... where the Shannon, Ireland's longest river, meets the Atlantic Ocean. It is a pleasant, largely rural county. Dotted with picturesque towns and villages, such as Castleconnell on the banks of the Shannon and Adare, with its old world thatched cottages and medieval churches, County Limerick is well worth a visit. Enjoy a relaxing cruise on the Shannon, go horse-riding or try out coarse angling.

Kilmallock is an historic little country town, deep in the Golden Vale of Co. Limerick, Ireland ... 21mi/34km south of Limerick on the R512. Around the walled town which was one of the principal towns of the province of Munster in medieval times, are the earliest known roots of man in the south-west of Ireland. Excavations at Tankardstown uncovered a complex of houses and early farming activity dating from shortly after 4000 B.C. Scale models of the Stone Age houses and a large model of the medieval town are featured in Kilmallock Museum.

Substantial portions of the old town walls survive as well as town gates - Blossom Gate and John's Gate a landmark in the centre of the town. Church and abbey ruins testify to the importance of the area from the 13th to 15th centuries.

General Information: Welcome to Ash Hill Stud ... set in a well-wooded estate and working livestock farm close to Kilmallock in the south of Ireland. Simon runs the property a stud farm breeding thoroughbred racehorses, keeping livery horses of all kinds and producing cattle and sheep.

The main residence is a large comfortable Georgian house (c. 1780), which looks out onto an 18 stable stone yard. The house is open as a guest house for discerning visitors. There is also a spacious two bedroomed self-catering apartment in the main yard which can be rented as holiday accommodation.

• Ash Hill is a large, comfortable Georgian guest house with many fine ceilings set in a working horse farm
  
• For guests who wish to stay at Ash Hill, we have four en-suite bedrooms; three with a double beds, one with three single beds and one bedroom that is not en-suite with two single bed
  
• Ash Hill provides a wonderful environment for children with wide open spaces and lots of animals such as sheep, cattle, horses, ponies, ducks, hens and dogs
  
• You are welcome to bring your dogs while staying at Ash Hill
  
• Evening meals at Ash Hill can be provided for by prior arrangement
