With a population of nearly 430,000 and with much of the county designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Wiltshire is the perfect destination for a relaxing break at any time of the year. Admire the beauty of our gardens; walk the White Horse Trail to see our eight white horses carved into the hillsides; meander along the towpath of the Kennet and Avon Canal or take a leisurely wander through our market towns and pick up the real flavour of country life. This area of Wiltshire is full of lovely places to visit: Stonehenge (4 miles), the Cathedral city of Salisbury (9 miles) and Wilton House, gardens and carpet factory (7 miles). There is a Park and Ride in Wilton which serves Salisbury with buses running regularly throughout the day. Longleat House and Safari Park is only a 20 minute drive and Stourhead Gardens about 40 minutes. The historic towns of Wells, Glastonbury, Bath and Winchester are within an hour's drive as is Bournemouth and its beaches. "We have just turned up and had the most welcoming and warmest experience in Bill and Catherine's house. Extremely kind people." "Loveliest place. Thank you for your hospitality and see you next time." "Once more we had a wonderful visit - our 10th. We shall be back for more." "A real gem." |
