01974 272284, Activities/Attractions: The town of Aberystwyth is nestled between three hills and two beaches, and hosts some castle ruins, a pier and a harbour. The surrounding hills hold the visible remains of a iron age fort and also a monument to Wellington and once climbed offer stunning views across Cardigan Bay. Aberystwyth is a University town with some seven thousand students, ensuring it is vibrant throughout the year and not just during the summertime. The harbour was once one of the busiest in Wales and is fed by the rivers Ystwyth and Rheidol. The area is ideal for walking cycling and bird watching holidays. Red Kites are now regularly seen in the area. Of course we have many superb beaches all within a short drive. Like the sheltered harbour and safe beaches of Newquay where the focus of activity in the summer is sailing, fishing, water sports and relaxation. With Its picturesque houses, pubs and restaurants, the town has pretty narrow streets rising in terraces - several of which were 'ropewalks' for twisting rope in New Quay's hey day as a shipbuilding centre. Explore quiet country lanes inland, visit small market towns, woollen mills and rural craftsmen in an area rich in creative talent-lots of places to go to, lots of things to do-water sports, walking, golf, salmon fishing, pony trekking and beach riding are available. Dolphins are a great attraction along the coast and boat trips can be arranged from some of the ports and villages. Sea fishing trips are also available. Click here for more area attractions. |
