Activities/Attractions: Briare is south-east of Orleans, at the eastern edge of the Val de Loire. On the edges of the Loire River, the river is crossed here by the Canal de Briare. Activities on and around the waterfront are the main attractions in the town. The notable features in Briare include:

• the leisure port - Port de Plaisance
  
• the chateau and town hall in the centre of the town
  
• walks along the quiet banks of the canal, also the bridge that carries the canal, with pedestrian access - it is the longest metal bridge of this type in Europe (660 metres), and was designed by Gustave Eiffel. Boat trips along the canal also star from Briare
  
• the associated locks and lockkeeper houses
  
• the 19th century church
  

Built in the 18th century and entirely renovated in 2001, the wonderful old "Mansart" style manor house stands very close to our home.

• Independent car park and entrances allow you complete freedom
  
• Our guests are always welcome to enjoy the 7 acres of park with secular trees and flowers, deckchairs, tables, outdoor games for children, tennis and table-tennis
  
• The Loire river can be reached by a private path (300 metres), which is a good starting place for walks or bike-rides
  
• Pets are welcome: 5 Euros per night
  
• Washing and drying machines : 8 Euros (soap, wash and dry)
  
• Bikes renting: 8 Euros each (bikes storage area for your own)
  
• Baby-sitters (our 2 oldest children) available: 6 Euros/Hour

General Information: Welcome to Domaine de la Thiau ... a modest distance to the south-east of Orleans and to the north of Sancerre and the Burgundy (Pouilly, Saint-Fargeau), at only 150 km south of Paris (1 hour from Fontainebleau) ... and enjoy in serenity a home-made breakfast, and receive from the owner of the place some useful advice for your stay. Chat with other tourists who cross your way, here is a real "bed and breakfast" or "chambres d'hotes"!

For one or more nights, you will be welcomed as friends ... a formula which is liked more and more by an increasing number of people who search for an original and authentic stay. In a calm and pleasant environment, with a maximum of 4 rooms, you will rest, before leaving to discover the area. But this estate is not an hotel, you will not find the same services there. We are awaiting for you so let the charms start!

• The Marguerite de Navarre Suite: Upstairs, this small apartment (40m2), with 4 windows facing south, west and east, overlooking the park is made up with a bedroom and a living-room, furnished with "1900" antique. The bedroom provides 1 double (150 x 200cm) and 1 single (90cm) beds. Private en-suite bathroom and toilets + private kitchenette (fridge, microwave, 2 electric rings, utensils)
  
• The Green Room: This upstairs bedroom (25m2 large) with 2 windows facing west and east overlooking the park and furnished in "18th century regional" antique provides 1 double (150 x 200cm) and 1 single (90cm) beds. Private en-suite bathroom toilets. Chimney
  
• The Francois 1st Suite: On the ground floor, with a private entrance and a door leading to the rest of the house, this small apartment (60m2) with 5 windows opening to the east and west overlooking the park, is made up of 1 bedroom with lounge and chimney (1 double bed = 160 x 200cm, can be divided in twin beds +3 €) and a living-room (1 single bed = 90cm). All furnished in "Louis-Philippe" antique. Private en-suite bathroom and toilets. Chimney. Private kitchen corner (fridge, microwaves, gas cooker and utensils)
