Activities/Attractions: Having officially been dubbed as Canada's Most Beautiful Village, by Communities in Bloom, and with more designated heritage buildings than any other Ontario community of like size, Merrickville is a unique and vibrant Victorian village on The Rideau Canal.  It provides an array of activities and services for visitors, businesses and locals alike.

Ideally-situated along the historic Rideau Canal, less than an hour’s drive from both Ottawa, the nation’s capital, and the U.S.-Canada border, Merrickville loves to celebrate its history and culture and heartily invites everyone to join in! To enjoy its heritage, natural attractions, delightful restaurants and shops, its small town hospitality, and its all-round, year-round enchantment.

Rich vintage architecture. Leafy canopied streets flowing to the Rideau's edge. Visitors strolling down those shaded streets at a leisurely centuries-past pace. A poetic Towne Crier, dressed in regalia of yore, issuing his spirited warm welcome. An osprey, a great blue heron gliding over the Merrickville locks, part of the oldest continuously operating Canal in North America, a designated National Heritage Site and a Canadian Heritage River ... these are just some of the treasures which singularly and as part of a special blend, help preserve bygone days and keep alive the lore and the lure that is Merrickville.

Welcome to Merrickville's relaxed, casual dining in our 1860's Style European Pub - Harry McLean's. Merrickville's premier dining room offers superb European cuisine drawn from the world's finest traditions, enhanced by old world charm and elegance.

"Over the years I have stayed in the Bridal Suite, The Junior Suite, and have had several meals in the dining room to celebrate birthdays, anniversary etc. Each time our meal was fantastic, the service was top notch and the rooms were beautiful. We will continue to spend our birthdays and anniversary at the Baldachin as it has come to be a very special place for both my husband and me."
