Long sweeping beaches and coastal resorts make for perfect family holidays and unique natural features such as the world famous Cheddar Gorge and Caves provide superb days out. The county is alive with history - Wells, the smallest city in England has a magnificent Cathedral, and Mystical Glastonbury Tor, topped by the tower of a ruined 15th-century church, offers unparalleled views. A landscape dotted with cider orchards and traditional farms - no trip to Somerset would be complete without sampling two of the county's most famous exports; Cheddar cheese and delicious cider. Westquantockhead is a quiet rural village. St Audries
Garage also has a shop. The Windmill Public House is
recommended for meals. A quaint church is opposite the
Windmill Pub. Quantock is known for its wildlife, especially
the red deer and Quantock ponies. With the Coleridge Way
passing literally past the front door, the area is wonderful
for walking, riding, cycling and wildlife watching. Taunton is a thriving, forward-looking town where modern life sits alongside relics of its dramatic past dating back to Saxon times. The town is the retail capital of the county with all the top names in shopping, eating and drinking, as well as a wonderful mix of specialist and independent retailers. For evening entertainment the Brewhouse Theatre offers something for all tastes. |
