Activities/Attractions: Our property is located beside a country road with little traffic to interrupt the serenity of this lovely spot. The house and barn are surrounded by forests and stone walls, stately sugar maples, hillside fields, fruit trees, and organic flower and vegetable gardens. Our nearest neighbors are family members who have built seasonal homes. Behind us a panoramic view stretches out forty-five miles to Franconia Notch and the White Mountains.

If you must, there are many diversions nearby. Golf, biking, antiquing, auctions, galleries, fairs, fine dining, mountain climbing and hiking, swimming and boating abound. The Squams and Newfound Lake are less than ten miles away, Winnipesaukee a bit further. The university’s cultural events and the summer-long New Hampshire Music Festival are fifteen minutes away. And if visiting New Hampshire’s tourist attractions is your thing (Everybody does, at least once!) they’re a reasonable drive in any direction. On the map we’re the geographic center of our small state.

"Thank you so much for such a wonderful stay. Kathryn and I had a great time, and we simply loved your home and the room. It was an experience we hope to repeat soon and often. The food and amenities were exceptional. Thank you for your directions and suggestions for walks. And thanks for letting us play with Bella – she’s a wonderful dog. Best wishes, and we hope to see you again very soon!"

"We just wanted to say thank you again for a wonderful experience.  We loved your home and you made us feel very welcome.  We can't say enough about the room, view and flowers.  We wish you much joy and happiness in your new venture as B & B owners.  Hopefully our paths will cross again, you both were so much fun to talk to.  Enjoy your summer."

"Thank you for a wonderful time and retreat. Apple pie for breakfast! Yummmmm!"

"We couldn't have picked a better place to spend a couple of days and nights. The loft is a truly beautiful place to stay with an awesome view! The furnishings are beautiful and the bed sheets oh-so-soft! We felt completely at home. Bella, the surrogate lab, was a joy to have around and take for a walk. Virginia's cooking is superb. Thanks for everything!"

General Information: Welcome to the Bridgewater Mountain Bed and Breakfast ... a small, family bed and breakfast, providing hospitable and personal service within a house which has been our family’s vacation home for nearly 60 years. Ideally situated in central New Hampshire, we are just minutes from Interstate 93 in a secluded high country setting with a sweeping view of mountains to the north. Located just four miles off Exit 24, it is also within the state’s Lakes Region, convenient to countless recreational opportunities that define the Granite State.

Originally an 1847 working farm, the old house was architecturally re-designed and rebuilt recently to incorporate the charm of the old as well as comforts possible only with new features: air conditioning, and large rooms with scenic window views. We’ve created two rooms with private baths, and an en suite loft apartment for our visiting guests.

  • We offer the Meadow View Room and Mountain View Room in the main house, and an en suite loft studio facing the mountains
  • Each guest space has a full private bath, king or queen-size bed, ceiling fan, and air conditioning. (AC is seldom needed at this elevation, but you make the call)
  • The Mountain View Loft with King bed also includes a kitchen, living room with a fold-out futon couch for additional sleeping space, and a separate entrance - ideal for extended stays by writers, musicians, artists, photographers, and those seeking private living space
  • The two guest rooms in the main house are upstairs, and share an upper hall sitting area and refreshments corner
  • On the main floor there’s a gracious living area with a fireplace, comfortable furniture, and antique desk for writing postcards
  • The adjacent breakfast area features family china and an antique round table which seats 10 or more
  • Finally, there’s the back porch a family favorite for all sorts of activities
  • Newly enlarged with a choice of screens or glass for changing weather, it features comfortable wicker furniture, a raised hearth fireplace, and our incredible view of flowers, fields, and the mountains
  • Breakfast happens here on sunny days, and afternoon naps are encouraged. Spectacular sunset views are best from the porch, too
  • House rooms and the Loft are wired for cable television and high-speed internet service
  • You can borrow a portable TV/DVD player for your room if desired, and we have a collection of movies and music CDs to choose from. Each room has a radio/CD player

Payment Accepted: Visa, MasterCard.

A full breakfast is included in the daily rate, provided in the main house between 7:30-9:00 am, other hours only by special arrangement. (Please notify Virginia of any special dietary requirements when registering).
