Activities/Attractions: Normandy, France offers a diverse blend of landscapes and attractions, but most travelers are drawn to the 400 miles of beautiful coastline that hugs the English Channel, or Le Manche as it is known in France. The coast of Normandy is equally attractive on calm, sunny days or when the weather turns stormy. The best time to visit is from late spring to early fall.
The region of Lower-Normandy is composed of the northwestern French départements of Orne, Calvados and Manche. It was formerly western Normandy. The capital is Caen. The region is bounded by the Départements of Ille-et-Vilaine, Mayenne, and Sarthe to the south and Eure-et-Loir and Eure to the east. Manche and Calvados border the English Channel.
The Normandy department of Calvados is famous for its apple brandy of the same name. Follow the famous cider routes through pretty villages with their thatched collombage houses amongst verdant apple orchards. Visit Calvados’s listed villages, craft centres and cider festivals, not forgetting to taste the produce and take some home.
Caen, the capital of Calvados, displays the ruins of a castle built by William the Conqueror and the abbey where his remains are buried. From the artists’ mecca of pretty Honfleur, sandy beaches stretch all the way to the stylish resorts of Trouville and Deauville.
The famous tapestry at Bayeux is certainly worth a visit as are the thought-provoking Normandy D-day beaches of Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword - commemorated in Le Memorial, the museum for peace, at Caen.

"My wife and I had the pleasure of staying here for 2 nights in mid September. Alain and Mrs. Delabarre were exceptional hosts with some very good advice on our planned visits around Normandy. This was our first visit to Normandy and France and it most certainly will not be the last. So much to see and enjoy. Thank you again."
