Activities/Attractions: Nerja is by far the nicest town on the eastern Cost del Sol. Nerja has grown rapidly, yet has escaped the excesses of ugly high rise buildings that disfigure much of the Costa. The weather is very sunny and temperate as Nerja lies on a plain almost surrounded by the Almijara and Alpujarra Sierras.
It is perfectly possible
to ski on the slopes of the Sierra Nevada in the morning, and
sunbathe on the Nerja beaches in the afternoon. In old Nerja, narrow streets lie between white walled houses,
their balconies full of Geraniums. Restaurants and tapas bars
are everywhere, and all tastes are catered for, from
Andalucian to Indian, Mexican and even Greek.
The white villages of Frigiliana, Torrox Pueblo, Canillas de
Albaida and Competa are all nearby and all worth a visit. All
have their fiestas and Saints' days when colourful
flamenco dresses are worn. Semana Santa (Easter) is
celebrated in all the towns and villages with solemn
Processions. Malaga's Semana Santa celebrations are world
famous. Nerja has numerous amenities, restaurants, shops and
the world famous Balcon De Europe.
One of Nerja's many attractions is the
Balcon de Europa, an unusual promenade built on a small
peninsula jutting into the Mediterranean, and offering
spectacular views along the rugged coastline. Visiting Nerja
in !885, King Alfonso stood on the peninsula, which had once
been home to a Moorish castle, and christened it "The
Balcon de Europa."
Another world famous attraction is the awesome "Cuevas
" at Maro, a village east of Nerja. A theatre has been
created within the caverns and famous performers appear at
the festival held there every July.

"Stayed at Villa Caritas for a week in may. Got a very warm welcome of Joe & Jean (thank you for that!) with even some groceries already there, to survive the first day. Excellent house, with great balconies, both sun and shadow. Great views on the sea. Quiet street and just a short ride to Nerja downtown. Also easy to walk. In total, one of the best places to be and catch some sun on nice and cozy beaches. And Joe and Jean are the best!"
"The villa has beautiful views over the mountains and sea there is a small shop nearby for essentials and newspapers and plenty of supermarkets in the town. The pool is only metres away and beautiful with two snack bars. Everyone is very friendly ad welcoming and the place is total chill out."

"Turned up late, but Joe was there to greet us, showed us around his gorgeous Villa, couldn't have been more helpful. The pictures don't do it justice at all. All rooms beautifully decorated throughout. The views from the top terrace are fabulous and we sat out up there every night looking at the sunset. Punta Lara Bar just down the road for an evening nightcap and the communal pool area was always kept clean and tidy and very quiet, great beer and food. The near by Avalon Restaurant has amazing views and even better food, not cheap but worth the money. Would stay here again and we had a lovely holiday. Thanks to Joe and Jean."
