Activities/Attractions: The City of Calistoga is located 80 miles North of San Francisco in the scenic Napa Valley. It is found at the top of the Napa Valley, at the foot of Mt. St. Helena, which rises 4500 feet above the city. Calistoga, population 5,000, is a popular destination for visitors to the heart of the Wine Country.
Calistoga is best known for its geothermal hot springs, mineral water, and is home to California's Old Faithful Geyser. It is also the home of the Napa County Fairgrounds. Calistoga has maintained its small town atmosphere while still being able to accommodate many tourists each year.
Calistoga's small town ambience, coupled with sophisticated dining and shopping, make it a favorite of many wine country visitors. It's a low-key place compared to the rest of the Napa Valley and with lodging right in town, it's an easy place to have an automobile-free weekend.
"We stayed two nights and enjoyed the bonus of a kitchen, dining table, sitting room, coupons, directories, extra blankets, etc. that this place had to offer ... we found it clean and cozy for our purposes and definitely worth what we paid. We also appreciated the quiet neighborhood and the stream out back that lulled us to sleep. We also thought it was great that within 5 minutes you can walk to the main street in Calistoga for dinner or drinks. Although I was with a friend and not on a romantic getaway, if I were to come to this area again with a significant other I would definitely consider the charm of this place first!"
"We stayed at the Washington Street Lodging in Calistoga, CA and were pleasantly surprised at how nice the accommodations are. There are 5 separate cottages- ours had a porch with chairs and a table, overlooking a stream in the back, with the bathroom off of the bedroom and a little kitchenette (ours had a microwave, coffee maker, toaster, little refrigerator, sink and sitting area.). Joan, the owner, leaves fresh baked goods, fruit and fresh orange juice while you're out during the day so you can eat your breakfast whenever you want the next morning. Our cottage was really nicely decorated and quite spacious. In addition, the owners are really nice and friendly."
"We stayed here for 5 nights. The location is great. Away from all the visitors of Napa but close enough to all the vineyards, there were some really great local ones within cycling distance. We stayed in cottage #3 which was nice and roomy. Our rooms had everything we needed for tea and coffee as well as microwave and mini-fridge."

"A very friendly place. Our cottage (No. 3) overlooked the river and was great to sit outside for breakfast and listen to the birds, see the squirrels chasing each other up the trees. When we came back from the wineries and opened a bottle at night it was lovely and peaceful to sit out on our deck. Inside, the cottage was well furnished and very clean. Really enjoyed our 3 nights here. A lovely place to relax. There are hammocks and chairs to sit outside and chill out on. Also Calistoga is a very nice town.. You won't go wrong staying here. Can really recommend it to anyone wanting a place to unwind and relax."
"I was fortunate to find the Washington Street Lodge! We stayed in Cottage #2 and it had a roomy bedroom, closet bathroom and a decent size living room with a twin bed. Also, we were pleasantly surprised to see a nice size kitchen fully stocked with plates, coffeemaker, coffee, kitchenware etc. Best of all the bed and towels are fluffy and everything was VERY CLEAN AND HOMEY. WE LOVED IT!!"
"We stayed here last year and loved it ... it is a great value and very charming. It is on a residential street but the cottages are set back behind the main house overlooking a creek (but across the creek from an elementary school!) The owners are friendly and stock each cottage with home baked goods and fruit and other fixings for a simple breakfast. It is within walking distance of downtown Calistoga, restaurants, and several of the local spas. We're going back!"
