Activities/Attractions: Lake Simcoe has been designated by many as the "Ice Fishing Capital" of Ontario. Renamed by Lord Simcoe, from Lake Toronto and as the original fur traders name of Lac aux Claies, the "lake of weirs", after the many fishing weirs at the narrows in Orillia, Lake Simcoe today is still considered to be Ontario cottage country.

The quaint, but thriving Village of Sutton reflects the rich history of Georgina. Today Sutton is a modern, lively community, with proud roots that are still reflected in the charming character of this "Upper Canadian" village. Closer to the beaches of Lake Simcoe, Sutton joins the Community of Jackson's Point, a very popular destination for both local and out-of-town visitors.

Georgina Island First Nation's population is approximately 220 residents and its total land mass is approximately 15 km².

  • On Georgina Island, fishing is a favourite pastime in the summer and winter
  • Walking or biking on Nanabush Trails, or even the 13 miles around the perimeter of the island, is a relaxing experience
  • A wide variety of wild flowers, many species of birds and butterflies, wolves, foxes, deer, beavers, raccoons, rabbits, squirrels and chipmunks live on the island
