Activities/Attractions: Knaresborough has a long and interesting history having strong connections with Royalty and the Crown as part of the Honour of Knaresborough. It has much to offer visitors - a beautiful crag-top setting on a gorge of the River Nidd with the remains of an ancient castle; riverside walks and cafés, the curious Dropping Well and semi-legendary figure of Mother Shipton and her prophecies.

Less well-known perhaps are the extraordinary story of the Knaresborough road maker and surveyor Blind Jack, the linen industry which supplied Royal palaces and won the Prince Albert Medal at the Great Exhibition, the curious history of The House in the Rock, the long established market held every Wednesday and newer traditions of the Edwardian Fair and the Bed Race and, of course, the ancient Castle.

'Holly Corner' B&B is roughly half way between London and Edinburgh, with easy access to York, Ripon, Harrogate and the Yorkshire Dales.  Being only four miles from the main A1 (M) Motorway and 6 miles from Boroughbridge, it is an ideally situated and quiet stop off place for those travelling and exploring Britain. East and West coastlines are equidistant, being approximately one and a half hours driving time to both. Being a family home Bed and Breakfast, Jan and Don offer a rather more personal and attentive service than do Guest Houses and Hotels.

General Information: Jan and Don MacLellan offer a warm welcome to visitors to "Holly Corner", a large Tudor-style family home Bed & Breakfast situated in a quiet Private Drive on the outskirts of beautiful & historic Knaresborough, England.

Ideally situated for visiting events held at the Great Yorkshire Show Ground in Harrogate. We offer a quiet, clean and homely stay, especially for those of us who are over 21!

• All rooms have tea & coffee making facilities and colour television, magazines and local information

• The double has a large private bathroom, & separate toilet as well as a large hand wash-basin in the room itself
  
• The single has sole use of a shower room
  
• Accommodations are on separate landings for privacy
  
• Shaver points are located in all rooms or their facilities
  

There are hairdryers, robes and soft towels in all rooms for the use of our guests. With such a limited number of guests you are assured of the most friendly and personal service.

Payment Accepted: Sorry, we do not have credit card facilities at Holly Corner, but the following payment methods are acceptable:

Cheque with guarantee card, Eurocheque Sterling, Sterling Travellers Cheques, Bankers Draft in Sterling and Cash.

• Please note that check-in time is between 4.00 p.m. and 10.00 p.m. each day. However, Jan will accommodate guests requirements, whenever possible, if prior notice is given.

We have tried to cover every eventuality on our site. If, however, there is something that you wish to enquire about or are not sure about, please do not hesitate to telephone or e-mail us.  We are only too pleased to help.  We hold extensive literature about the area in all rooms, which we cannot possibly cover on the web-site, as not everything interests everybody.

There is, however, one thing to make mention of, and that is, because we are in a Private Drive in a residential area, not the Town Centre, we ask you, please, to check reference parking on arrival as courtesy to our immediate neighbours.
