Activities/Attractions: The Allagash is one of the last remote wildernesses left in the east. A place where the deer, moose, bears, loons and bald eagles call home. Allagash is a region rich in logging lore, where logs were once cut with axes and flowed in great log drives down the isolated streams and rivers of the area.

All of our cabins have a view of the lake and access to the lake from their cabins. All of our packages include the use of our rowboats, canoes and kayaks.

Guests can enjoy swimming off the wharf or out to our floating dock. Your neighbors include deer, bald eagles, Raccoons, moose and yes bears. But don't fear we have not lost a guest yet.

We are located at the headwaters of three famous watersheds, the Allagash, St. John, and Penobscot Rivers all begin right here. Countless miles of streams, rivers, ponds and lakes make it impossible to fish it all. But your welcome to try.

General Information: Loon Lodge is situated in the heart of the Allagash Lake Region of Maine. This is one of the most remote regions in the east. We specialize in quiet isolation with a touch of rustic comfort. In keeping with the tradition of the Allagash our cabins are kept rustic yet very homey and comfortable. Each cabin has an animal theme and is decorated to fit that theme.

Some of our cabins are more isolated than others but we are the only cabins on the entire 375 acre lake. The lodge comes well stocked with a wide variety of board games, videos, books and magazines. Our cabins have colorful names like the "Bear's Den", "Fishing Hole", "Deer Yard", "Trapper" and "The Moose Crossing". The cabins are equipped with:

  • kitchens with propane stoves
  • sinks (hand carried water only)
  • pots, pans and utensils
  • refrigeration comes from the ice that we provide for you

Many choose to have their meals provided for them in the rustic atmosphere of our log lodge. We offer packages that include just suppers or all your meals or you can choose to provide your own meals in the privacy of your cabin.

Heat is provided by either wood stoves or propane furnaces. Our cabins come with bed linens and blankets but you may want to bring along your favorite blanket and/or sleeping bag. Each room has hot showers, flush toilets and sinks with electrical outlets for hair dryers and electric shavers.
