on the Bay Lodge and Marina in Oregon
Wheeler on the Bay Lodge and Marina Nehalem Bay Oregon Waterfront Motel Lodgings Accommodations
Host: Juana Del Handy
Address: Highway 101, 580 Marine, Wheeler, Oregon 97147 USA
Activities/Attractions: The village of Wheeler was born in the early 1900's with the completion of a rail link to the navigable waters of Nehalem Bay. The train provided a means of delivering lumber and seafood to Portland and points east. The lumber mills and fish packing plants of Wheeler's early decades are gone now, leaving a charming little village of historic buildings strung together on the edge of that beautiful bay as if they were displayed on a mantle at Christmas. Wheeler has been called "the little town with the million-dollar view!". It is a captivating place to relax, refresh, and enjoy the scenic splendor of Oregon's north coast.
Cruise the beautiful Nehalem Bay and River onboard the Stinger Luxuriate in the 23' boat as pilot Capt. Paul Jones narrates the history and provides Eco-tour enriched sightings and information. There are several one-way kayak trips ... we take you up river and you float down river and back to the lodge. You can take a break at Nehalem, dock your kayak at the public docks, have lunch, shop, or just take five.
"Every room is different here, but ours had a whirlpool tub and a big comfy bed ... The staff are all friendly and accommodating. Best part about this place is that they'll rent you some kayaks off their own dock so you can explore the slough by boat, watching for blue herons, sea lions, and the occasional lost Orca."
"Fabulous, all the wonderful cottage style decor, comfortable beds, the view. Stayed 3 more days just to unwind and really enjoy some Chinook Salmon Fishing."

"I've just today returned from a weeks stay at the lodge. I have stayed at this establishment nearly yearly for over 10 years, both under the present and prior owners. I have always been satisfied with the accommodations ... There are plenty of eating, shopping, and activity opportunities within this radius. I have enjoyed every stay here, and definitely plan on returning."
"Wheeler by the Bay is a charming little motel, is right on the Bay and is quaint and well worth staying at! Rates equal to most others on the coast $100 a night ... each room has its very own ho tub (spa tub)! And be sure to get the rooms that FACE the bay, you'll have an outstanding vacation! Staff great, rooms very clean, beds comfortable."
