Activities/Attractions: The hamlet of Stillwater is located 11 scenic miles north of Big Moose and 28 miles from Lowville. Presently our population is 20 year round residents and blossoms in the summer time with many seasonal residents.

Located at the west end of the Reservoir this is the only access point and has a parking area, boat launch and the Ranger's Headquarters.

The Stillwater Reservoir is located in the West Central Adirondacks and offers year round recreation for the outdoor enthusiast. This remote wilderness area of the park allows for:

  • wilderness camping
  • shoreline camping
  • canoeing
  • boating
  • fishing
  • hiking
  • hunting
  • snowmobiling
  • cross country skiing
  • snow shoeing

Spring, summer and fall provide opportunities for hiking, boating, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, fishing and picnicking at the Stillwater Reservoir and its' surrounding area. Guests now have access to complimentary canoes in the summer time.

General Information: Situated on 33 acres of heavily wooded territory with ponds and streams and with only three rooms, privacy will abound at Northern Lights Bed and Breakfast. Our goal is to allow you to experience the Adirondack Wilderness with the ultimate of comforts.

Each room has been individually decorated in the "North Country" style. All rooms are non-smoking and sleep two. The bathrooms have Kohler fixtures and are all well appointed.

  • The Pine Room features a queen size antique brass bed and a twin size day bed, private bath, and a Vermont Castings Stove in room

  • The Elm Room features a Curtis queen size sleigh bed (made of cherry), private bath with spa tub and stall shower, and Vermont Castings Stove in room

  • The Cherry Room features a Stickley king size poster bed (made of black cherry), private bath with spa tub for two and shower, and Vermont Castings Stove in Room

Your Adirondack Mountain Breakfast will feature traditional favorites as well as some surprises. In addition to the fresh hot breakfast prepared before you, fresh fruit, cereal and a continental selection of home baked goods are offered for those desiring a lighter fare. Special requests can be accommodated.

For those desiring a change of scenery, a short drive to Big Moose or Old Forge will provide many restaurant choices.
