Activities/Attractions: The principal villages of Wallingford, South Wallingford and East Wallingford all owe much of their early prosperity to the railroads which passed through them.
Wallingford is unusual in Vermont in that almost all of its topographical features have descriptive names, rather than names derived from individuals (Bear Mountain, White Rock Mountain, Granite Hill, etc.). According to local lore, Sugar Hill is where maple syrup was first made in Vermont.
The White Rocks Inn provides a central location from which to experience a range of activities:

If you want scenery, take the hiking path up the hill behind the barn to the picnic table in fall for a spectacular view of the fall foliage in the valley.
In winter this same area becomes the ultimate sledding hill! And when you are ready to see all that Vermont has to offer, it's practically at your doorstep. Shop till you drop in Manchester, browse through museums and art centers, enjoy summer theater at Weston and Dorset - all within 20 miles!
