Activities/Attractions: The North Harris Landscape is spectacularly beautiful.
It is the most mountainous region in the Western Isles and includes the famous Sron Ulladail overhang and the highest hill Clisham (2622ft) - both a great attraction to visitors whom we wish to welcome.

Internationally recognised for its wildlife, the rugged upland and oceanic habitats provide a haven for several rare species including the spectacular golden eagle.

Much of the natural heritage is dependent on active management of land and its present quality is testament to the relationship that has existed between the land and the crofters who work it.

By taking responsibility for the land we have become masters of our own destiny, creating a vibrant, modern community that prizes its Gaelic language, way of life and rich cultural and natural heritage.

Overlooking West Loch Tarbert, you can see an abundance of wildlife.  Recently spotted : The great northern diver, a pod of porpoises, a breeding pair of buzzards and a breeding pair of golden eagles. Apart from these, we have a resident otter family and a variety of seabirds, too many to list here.

General Information: Welcome to Avalon Guest House ... we have been a Tourist Board, 4 Star graded establishment, since we started providing Bed and Breakfast, some seventeen years ago in the Isle of Harris, Scotland.

The house is situated on the family croft, with a southerly aspect over West Loch Tarbert. Two of the bedrooms and the lounge, have extensive views of the loch. Bird watching is a popular pastime and we are ideally located, whatever the time of year.

• Bedroom 1: Twin room with en-suite facilities.  Television, radio/alarm clock, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities
  
• Bedroom 2: Double room with en-suite facilities. Television, radio/alarm clock, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. View over the loch
  
• Bedroom 3: This room can be double or twin. Not en-suite but has a private bath/shower room a few steps along the hall. There is a vanity unit in the room. Television, radio/alarm clock, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities are standard. Also has a view over the loch
