Activities/Attractions: St. Lucia is the sort of island that travellers to the Caribbean dream about - a small, lush tropical gem that is still relatively unknown. One of the Windward Islands of the Lesser Antilles, it is located between Martinique and St. Vincent, and north of Barbados. St. Lucia is only 27 miles long and 14 miles wide, with the Atlantic Ocean kissing its eastern shore and the beaches of the west coast looking out onto the beauty and calm of the Caribbean Sea.
In addition to the wide variety of opportunities to hike, birdwatch and tour St. Lucia's outstanding natural attractions, the island is replete with a full range of recreational facilities. Visitors may enjoy the leisurely pleasures of touring the island by horse, chartering a yacht for an evening sail or day cruise, or relax with a round of golf amid St. Lucia's entrancing natural beauty.
For those who enjoy the thrill of more vigorous pursuits, there are plenty of places to windsurf, dive, water-ski, or play tennis or squash. There are also a number of activities more closely related to the traditional life of St. Lucia, including deep-sea fishing, weekly "jump-ups" at Gros Islet, and visits to the weekly market at Castries.
"Working vacation. This place provided excellent food with many St. Lucian dishes. Breakfasts were great. The rooms were clean and quiet. Gardens lovely. A short walk to the mall or to the beach and lots of restaurants close by, though the food at the hotel restaurant beside the garden and pool was also good .. when you just didn't feel like going out. We especially appreciated that management accommodated the needs of our large group, doing some volunteer work on the island, going so far as to provide space for our large group to meet and to work together before going out into the community to make distributions of clothing and other items. We are in the process of planning another trip to St. Lucia and will definitely consider this hotel again, and recommend it to friends."
"We chose to stay here as we wanted flexibility to explore and not be restricted by the "all inclusive" tag. Bay Gardens was an excellent choice. It's not on the beach but only a 10 minute walk away and you walk past the big "luxury" hotels (which tend to resemble open prisons!). The hotel is spotless, the staff are continually cleaning, dusting, sweeping and making sure everything is just right. They are friendly and courteous and help to make your stay a memorable one. We went to the rum punch party which had a steel band by the pool and that was great fun - the manager, Berthia, went to lengths to introduce herself to everyone and is an excellent hostess. There is a supermarket 2 minutes away which is useful for stocking up on your drinks and we felt very safe walking around at any time of day or night, so no worries there. All in all, absolutely thoroughly recommend this little place. Much much nicer than the bigger brand names."

"All the staff at this hotel were very courteous and friendly and made my vacation a very enjoyable stay. Also, the hotel was just a five-minute walk from the best beach in St. Lucia."
"I stayed at the Bay Gardens Hotel with my husband on 18th January 2004 for 9 nights. The standards of service, food and accommodation were excellent. The Management were extremely professional and helpful."
"I stayed there for 4 days, and every day was wonderful. The food was EXCELLENT. I thought the staff was pleasant, and it was very obvious that they took pride in making it nice for everyone. Wonderful place to stay. I look forward to staying there next time."
"Bay Gardens Hotel is exceptional. The front-desk staff is well trained and certainly values the customer. We will be back for our first anniversary. Bay Gardens Hotel is the way to go in St Lucia and the choice of choices."

"Myself and my partner stayed at the Bay Gardens Hotel for 7 nights from the 4th - 11th July 2004. What a fantastic little hotel, the hotels website does not do the place justice. Our room overlooked the main pool and was very comfortable. The bed was huge, the bathroom very nice, maid service very efficient and the fridge was a nice touch so we could go to the mall and buy some snack/drinks etc. The staff are so friendly, always willing to help and offer advice on where to eat out and go on days out. The reception will put you through to tour companies and recommended taxi firms if you ask them to. The food in the hotel was very nice and there are two pools at the property and also a wade pool and a jacuzzi, the pool to the back is a little more private and is very nice to lounge around. The jacuzzi was excellent, neither of the pools or the jacuzzi were ever busy and the whole place was extremely relaxing! Out and about there are loads of restaurants to choose from, our favourite was BUZZ, an excellent place for sea food and local dishes."
"We arrived in St. Lucia and stayed at the Bay Gardens Hotel on the recommendation of some friends in Barbados. We were not disappointed. It's conveniently located in Castries, & has a swimming pool, jacuzzi, & games facilities. Our room was extremely comfortable, clean, & air-conditioned. We had a fabulous view of the pool & bar, & sat on our balcony & enjoyed the evening entertainment, which was great, but not too loud or intrusive. There was a fridge in our room, which meant we could store water & beer from the supermarket round the corner. The staff were tremendously friendly & accessible, advising us on island tours, bus routes, & local restaurants. The happy hour feature encouraged us to meet other travellers, who like us, were visiting St. Lucia for the first time. The beach is fabulous; it's a pleasant 10-minute walk away, or the shuttle bus provided by the hotel is available to drop & pick-up. Great views of Pigeon island. We have no hesitation in recommending Bay Gardens, & look forward to returning; 4 days in St. Lucia were not enough! Bay gardens is excellent value for money."
