Activities/Attractions: Hidden in the South of France in a little area, known by the French as 'La France inconnue', is the Languedoc Roussillon area with all of its little secret spots. One of the world famous, but undiscovered areas, is the Minervois which takes its name from the intriguing fortress village of Minerve.

Situated in the heart of the Minervois wine region, Mailhac is an ancient village dating back more than 7000 years. The modern Mailhac surrounds the ramparts of a more ancient village which is amongst the most interesting in France.

The original village was built of wood and was situated in the adjacent hills, but after having been burnt to the ground numerous times, it was moved onto the plain and built of the more durable local stones.

It is located within easy reach of the places for all of the varied activities that you can enjoy in the magical valley of the Aude.

• Travel North to explore the area of the Montagnes Noir, its caves, its lakes and its walks and bicycle routes
  
• Head South to the busy beaches of the Mediterranean, Sail serenely along the canal du midi or motor further South to the Pyrenees and on to neighbouring Spain
  
• To the East are the Roman cities of Bézier and Narbonne which straddle the Canal du Midi and the Canal de la Robinne. En route you can visit the prestigious olive oil mill of L'Oulibou which is situated on the outskirts of Bize Minervois
  
• Go West to visit the most beautiful medieval city of Carcassonne, or further afield to Toulouse or the famous Perigord

General Information: Patricia and Iain Sinclair would like to have the opportunity to welcome you into their home in Mailhac in Southern France ... Le Coq du Nord B&B. They each have more than 25 years of experience of hosting people in a truly international environment and would like to share these experiences with you.

Together they have been working and hosting their friends in more than 11 different homes around the world. After more than 20 years of searching for the ideal spot in the Languedoc Roussillon area, they have final settled in Mailhac. Come along and share their experiences and benefit from all of the experiences that they have brought together from their international travels.

The Bed and Breakfast offers a tranquil haven designed to help calm the fevered brow of modern travellers, sympathetically restored and decorated in the familiar calming Languedocienne colours. Fully climate controlled with individual thermostatic control, these rooms have been prepared to help make you feel completely rested and at ease.

• Each room is fully equipped with comfortable beds and tries to anticipate the facilities that you feel you may need
  
• By prior arrangement, even Telephone and TV can be provided if you need them
  
• Each room has a fully incorporated bathroom with its own toilet and shower to a standard which is normally only found in your own home or a five star hotel

The gîte (apartment) is fully equipped for 4-6 people with two fully equipped air conditioned bedrooms offering a charming view over the village. It is available all year round and has been formed from the old grenier (or attic) of the “maison vigneron” and tastefully modernised whilst retaining as many of the original features as possible. (The timber beams in the ceiling are more than 150 years old and measure more than 45 feet in length).
