The stone walls and rambling roses, the vistas of land and sea, the sweep of Crescent Beach, the pocket beaches caught between pounding surf and steep bluff - all are unforgettable. Bicycling is the best way to explore Block Island! Bicycles allow you to travel back roads to secluded coves. They are a great way to reach the island's greenway walking trails and historic landmarks, or may simply provide efficient transportation to the ever-popular bathing beach. Block Island is truly Nature's Treasure on the Sea, offering an unspoiled rural setting where a visitor can feel like they have stepped back to a gentler, quieter time. The Island offers:

"It was close enough to ferry to walk if you have light luggage and a bicycle. It is set back from "town" in a private peaceful farm like setting. Our room was very nice with good sunlight and a whirlpool tub. The breakfast room was lovely and the food was adequate. The woman who ran the place was quite friendly and accommodating and my friend and I enjoyed conversation with her and her assistant. The weather was beautiful for the most part and we had a great time. I would highly recommend the place for families, couples and singles alike. If ever in Block Island again I would stay no where else."

General Information: The Rose Farm Inn was a working farm until 1963, the twenty acres of farmland are now home to marsh hawks, ring-necked pheasant and white-tailed deer. This peaceful sea and country setting is only a few minutes walk from the village and beaches. The Rose Farm Inn is known for its natural setting, romantic rooms and informal hospitality.

The Farm House has been in the Rose Family for five generations. It was built in 1897 by James Rose. In 1980 Robert Rose reconstructed the Farm House as an Inn, preserving its great beach stone porch and turn of the century architecture.

The Captain Rose House was designed and built by Robert Rose in 1993. It was named after his grandfather, Captain Cornelius Rose, who ferried passengers and cargo between Block Island, Newport and New London on his two-masted schooner the Aunt Edie.
